Obamas Campaign Overtakes Newark

The Democratic National Convention descends on downtown Newark today. Local businesses were told that there would be an afternoon "block party" to get them to agree to closing the street. The residents of the street were not informed at all. Now that they have the police controlling the street they have begun to inform people that the DNC will be broadcast here from six in the evening until midnight. Hardly an afternoon "block party". These feels like third world totalitarianism. Using the police and corrupt city officials to force political propaganda upon the populace. Eleven80 is the only residential building in the direct area of this event. This is here for the express purpose of forcing us to listen to the DNC speeches which will be blasted through our windows while we try to sleep. Even in the afternoon the "test" of the audio system was decently loud. It will be awful at night. To keep the event a secret, they couldn't put up any "no parking" signs or else people who would oppose this event would find out about it. So this morning they came in and towed away the cars and put up the no parking signs after the cars had been removed.
